BIO- Career Narrative

I grew up in a household where art was a way of life. With parents who were professors of ceramics and textiles, and a father who explored early Apple digital imaging and 3-D clay printing, I was fortunate to have both a creative foundation and a lifelong mentor in my dad.

As a teenager, I attended Interlochen Arts Academy, where I received the President’s Award in Painting along with a Metalsmithing scholarship. I went on to study Painting at Indiana University, adding minors in Spanish and Russian literature, before relocating to Ann Arbor and later New York City. There, I exhibited work locally, built relationships with collectors across states, and worked as an assistant to a sculptor.

Graduate study in Bloomington further shaped my direction, while travel in Mexico, Central America, and Western Europe expanded my perspective. In the Costa Rican jungle, I painted and branded a crocodile tour boat —one of many experiences that folded the unexpected into my practice.

Today, my paintings explore the tension between instability and structure, asking whether clarity can emerge through deliberate artistic practice. My work is both focused and imperfect, rooted in tradition yet alive to experimentation.
